هذا الكتاب هو ترجمة كارن جابر لكتاب أوديل مورو L’empire ottoman à l’age des reformes – Les hommes et les idées du “Nouvel Ordre” militaire, 1826-1914. يتناول الكتاب الإصلاحات العسكرية والإدارية التي أدخلت على الدولة العثمانية، أو ما سُمّي "النظام العسكري الجديد"، منطلقًا من تاريخ القضاء على فيالق الإنكشاريين في عام 1826 حتى أوائل الحرب العالمية الأولى. يقع الكتاب (416 صفحة بالقطع الوسط، موثقًا ومفهرسًا) في سبعة فصول، موزعة في ثلاثة أقسام.
