Yamaha Recorder White -G
Yamaha's 20 and 30 Series recorders are designed to provide a perfect start to anyone's musical education. They offer an ideal amount of air resistance for easy control, and feature an accuracy of intonation you would expect to find only on more expensive models. Though other maker's plastic recorders may have a similar appearance, Yamaha ABS recorders are truly superior instruments. Models are available with either ‘German' or ‘Baroque' fingering systems. The 20 series, easy to play throughout their ranges, are primarily intended for beginners. 30 series recorders, which feature an arched windway for improved breath control and tonal expression, are for more advanced players.
YRS-23/24B: Possibly the world's most popular model, this recorder is easy to play and has a clear soft tone. It is ideal for school use.
Baroque vs German Fingering - What's the difference?
The basic design of recorders was developed hundreds of years ago during the baroque musical period of the 1600s and early 1700s. This classic style is still preferred by many music teachers and schools, mostly because some specific notes play a little better on tune with this design.
In the 1920s, instrument designers in Germany felt that the standard baroque recorder was too difficult for beginners to learn, as some notes put the player's fingers in positions that may feel awkward. Because of this, they made a small change to make those notes easier for a beginner to play. However, there is a trade-off – although the finger positions are easier, those same notes are more difficult to play in tune.
You can tell which version you have by looking at the 4th and 5th holes from the top. If the fourth hole is smaller than the fifth it is baroque. If the fourth hole is bigger, it's German. If you need a tape recorder to use at school, check with your teacher to make sure you get the right type
