ما هو سم النحل؟

يُعرّف على أنّه سائل ذو لون أبيض شفاف، تقوم بإفرازه وإنتاجه شغالة النحل، من خلال زوج من الغدد السميّة، حيث يتمّ تخزينه وحفظه في كيس يسمّى بكيس السم، والذي يقوم بإفراز ما في داخله من قاعدة آلة اللسع عند الحاجة لذلك.

ويمتلك هذا السم رائحة نفاذة، أمّا طعمه فيكون لاذعًا ومرّاً نتيجة وجود مجموعة من الأحماض داخله، وكلّما زادت نسبة حبوب اللقاح التي يتغذّى عليها النحل، زادت نسبة المواد السميّة فيه، علمًا بأنّ ذلك يكثر في فصلي الربيع والخريف؛ لأنّ نسبة الحبوب فيهما تزداد.

أمّا بالنسبة لجفاف السم، فهو يصبح جافًا في درجة حرارة الغرفة الطبيعيّة، علمًا بأنّ اللسعة الواحدة تحتوي على نحو 1 مل من السم، عندما تقوم بها الشغالة، أمّا إذا قامت بها الملكة فتمدّ الجسم بنحو 7 مل من السم.

وعندما تتمكّن الشغالة من غرس الآلة داخل الخلايا الجلديّة للإنسان، فإنّها تبذل أقصى جهودها لانتزاعها من الجسم، وفي حال فشلت فإنّها تموت وتبقى الآلة متّصلة بجسم الإنسان، علمًا بأنّ هذه الآلة مسنّنة وتشبه إلى حدٍ ما الصنارة.
